Report: Father of Spanish forward Lamine Yamal hospitalized after stabbing near Barcelona
BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reports that the father of 17-year-old Spanish soccer star Lamine Yamal has been hospitalized after being stabbed near Barcelona.
Citing unnamed official sources, the paper stated that Mounir Nasraoui was stabbed multiple times.
La Vanguardia mentioned that Nasraoui is in serious but stable condition.
According to La Vanguardia, some arrests have been made, but details were not provided.
Local police did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press late Wednesday.
Spain won the European Championship in July with Yamal being part of the winning team and assisting Nico Williams' opening goal in a 2-1 victory over England. He also received the tournament's best young player award just a day after turning 17.
